About this tool

A single-purpose generator for name tracing practice sheets.

Why it exists

Most name tracing pages are either a fixed PDF that can't hold your child's actual name, or a generator buried under several screens of article text and ads. A parent on a phone shouldn't have to scroll past an essay to reach a text box. So: the tool is the first thing on the page, it needs no account, and the PDF has no watermark.

How a sheet is built

Letter shapes are taken from the font as vector outlines and drawn straight into the PDF at absolute point sizes. Nothing is uploaded — the file is assembled in your browser. Type is sized so a capital letter fills exactly one line, which is why the printed line height is a real 3/4 inch rather than approximately that.

Fonts and trademarks

All handwriting fonts here are open-licensed under the SIL Open Font License. Style names are descriptive of letterform shape. D'Nealian®, Zaner-Bloser® and Handwriting Without Tears® are trademarks of their respective owners; this site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for any of them. If your school teaches a specific program, compare the samples on the styles page and pick the closest shape.

Accuracy

Every sheet carries a 3-inch reference bar so you can verify your printer isn't scaling the page. If something renders wrong for a particular name — accents, apostrophes, hyphens, very long names — that's a bug worth reporting rather than something to work around.
